Authorities have released more details about a crash between a car and a moped that left two teens dead and another injured.
It happened Sunday night when 16-year-old Michael Garcia and a young female were passenger were on a moped being driven by 19-year-old Cameron Maddox.
A car hit the back of the moped on N. Dale Mabry Highway just south of Busch Boulevard in Tampa. All three people on the moped were thrown from the bike.
Garcia died at the hospital; 14-year-old Claudia Gelpi was hit by a second car on the road and died at the scene.
The driver of the car that hit the moped didn't stop. The driver that hit Gelpi stopped and was uninjured.
Garcia was an aspiring rap artist known as "Emgee". He spent many hours working on his music at Red Lounge Recording Studio in Tampa. Operations Manager and Head Engineer Alex Romero says Garcia was a dedicated musician, who wanted to become the best of the best.
"He had drive. He was extremely self-driven," Romero told FOX 13. "To see a young kid with such drive, it's extremely rare."
Garcia's most recent production "On My Own" is one of several on his YouTube page. Garcia's family says his father worked very hard with him on the track and his budding music career.
The teenager was one of the youngest artists recording at the studio. He and Romero were working on their 10th track together. Romero says Garcia was already collaborating with established music producers and had a bright future in the industry.
"Very far. His talent would've took him to do it as a living," said Romero. "You could tell he went home and he studied it and he really, really wanted to do it."
Romero says Garcia was a perfectionist when it came to his music. Just six days ago, they were recording a new a song that remains unfinished and untitled.
Garcia was a student in Leto High School's Adult Education Program. He previously attended Gaither High School.
FHP has identified the hit and run driver as 23-year-old Amanda Diaz. They say deputies found her at her home after the crash. Diaz had not been charged yet, pending the outcome of the investigation into the crash.
Maddox is in serious condition at the hospital.
No one on the moped was wearing a helmet.
