Sheriff's office IDs 20-year-old suspect in BP murder

Posted: Updated:

Detectives in St. Petersburg have identified a suspect in last week's fatal shooting at a BP Gas Station.

Damon Danterius Ford, 20, is wanted for the murder of 21-year-old Caleb Scott. Video surveillance was released last week, and detectives say the shooting happened right in front of the door.

Ford was identified through several different sources, including the video. He is 5-foot-7 with a slim build, and detectives believe he will be clean shaven with dreadlocks.

The sheriff's office also says he has a few tattoos, including a "D Ford" on his left forearm, "Trap" on right arm, "problem" on right hand, and "solver" on left hand.

Ford is sought on first-degree murder charges.

In the video, which you can watch above, Ford and Scott appear to exchange words before the shooting happened. Deputies have not released footage of the actual shooting.

Ford fled the area on foot. If you have any information on his whereabouts, contact the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.
