Politicians in Tallahassee are trying to figure out if expanding gambling would be worth the risk.
The Senate Gaming Committee met Monday in Tallahassee to discuss a recent report from a gambling research firm.
The Spectrum Gaming Group says expanding gambling would provide only a moderate gain for Florida's economy. The report also says that depending on where the chips fall, a gambling expansion could actually cost the state money instead.
The state will hold a public hearing on gambling in Lakeland on Oct. 30.
