He's not even 3-years old, but a Lutz little boy has enough fight to humble even a field of football players.
He's pint-sized and a little camera shy, but one thing's certain: Greco Bouzakis is a fighter.
"He's brave. He's a brave boy and we are so proud of him and how he's reacting to this," Greco's mom, Toni Bouzakis said Friday.
The toddler was diagnosed two months ago with a rare, inoperable brain tumor. Doctors say he has less than a year to live. Most of his days are spent in a hospital room, as doctors work to prolong what time he has left.
"Having to go to radiation every day has been a huge change in our life, it's something we never thought we'd have to do," Toni said.
But for a moment, this family's struggles were washed away by the Friday night lights. Steinbrenner High honored Greco as captain for the night of the school's football team.
The Bouzakis' have only lived in Lutz for one year. But Friday, they found a family they never knew they had.
"They don't have any roots here, so we thought that if we could do something to make them feel at home, make them feel comfortable, and know that there's support here," said Steinbrenner Wrestling Coach Paul Noble, who helped organize the event.
Steinbrenner's mascot was pushed to the wayside, as the stands filled with over 600 shirts instead reading "Team Greco".
"Every day for them is memorable, and every day is important. So we're going to make this day really special for them," Noble said.
It was a night they'll never forget.
"We're a stranger to many folks out on that field and for them to open their arms like that, it's nice to know there's still really good people in this world," Greco's dad Troy Bouzakis said.
Those strangers turned out to be just the medicine they need: support in a time of struggle.
"A miracle. We are praying for a miracle," Toni said.
Little Greco is in day 19 of 29 days of radiation at Florida Hospital. His family stays by his side during every treatment. They say they refuse to let this disease stop them from living.
