Jury selection begins this morning in the murder trial of a man accused of killing two Tampa teens during a robbery in 2011.
Kiara and Jeremi Brito were shot to death inside their South Tampa home during a robbery in 2011.
The prosecution's key witness is behind bars for refusing to testify in the case.
Investigators say the Brito teens were targeted by Charles Waits and Tavari Grant.
They say it was all because Kiara was known to sell marijuana and expensive watches. Police say the two suspects went to the Brito home for marijuana, shot both teens to death, then stole marijuana, watches and $1,300 in cash.
The teen's mother was staying the night at her boyfriend's house in Treasure Island at the time of the murders.
Charles Waits goes on trial today. Prosecutors had hoped to call Grant's bother, Denzel Baker, to testify.
Investigators say the suspects left Baker's home together before the murders and went back to his house after with items taken from the Brito home.
Baker was arrested and charged with contempt of court last month for refusing to cooperate. Grant will face a separate murder trial later this month.
