The Florida Highway Patrol says two people were killed in a hit-and-run accident in Carrollwood.
According to troopers, it happened when a driver slammed into the back of their moped on Dale Mabry Highway near Busch Boulevard.
Three people in all were injured. One of those passengers, an unidentified female, was run over by a third car and died at the scene.
A second rear passenger, identified as 16-year-old Michael Garcia, later died at St. Joseph's Hospital, FHP officials said. The driver, 19-year-old Cameron Maddox, is in serious condition.
The driver of the Hyundai Accent that struck them was identified as 23-year-old Amanda Diaz. She was later tracked down at her residence and returned to the scene.
The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation today, and officials have not released any information about charges being filed.
