Two men have been arrested and charged with armed robbery after robbing a man at gun point and leading Sarasota police officers on a two county chase.
At approximately 3:15 a.m. Sunday, the victim flagged down Sarasota police officers in the area of 24th Street and Pershing Avenue, in Sarasota, telling them he had been robbed at gun point.
Officers were provided a description of the suspects and the vehicle they fled the scene in by the victim.
Officers observed a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle fled and a pursuit proceeded northbound on US 301 into Manatee County.
After briefly losing sight of the vehicle, officers saw the vehicle in a ditch on 63rd Avenue East in Manatee County.
Assisted by the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, the Sarasota Police Department arrested Elroy Johnson, DOB 2-27-94 (age 19), and Jermaine Conaway, DOB 4-11-1995 (age 18). Both men were later identified by the victim. Both men were transported to the Port in Manatee County.
A single barrel shotgun was recovered at 24th Street and Pershing Avenue. The Acura was stolen during a carjacking in Manatee County. Other charges are pending.
