Meeting today as pressure builds on LPD Chief Womack

LAKELAND (FOX 13) -

We may learn more today about the fate of Lakeland Police Chief Lisa Womack.

There's a review commission meeting today. Some want her out - and we could learn if that's a possibility.

Two members of the Lakeland City Commission want Polk Sheriff Grady Judd to come in and perform a management review of the police department.

At least one commissioner is hoping for support in getting Chief Womack out of a job.  Today, all of that will be discussed - first at an agenda study, and then at a review commission meeting later.

This all started a few months back, when a woman came forward saying she was having sex with several on-duty officers and other employees - creating a huge scandal..

Since then, 22 employees have been terminated, resigned or suspended. The police chief has been very outspoken since the beginning.

In fact, just a few weeks ago, she spoke out about letting Sue Eberle go - that's the woman accused of being at the center of the accusations.

Also recently, the state attorney wrote a scathing letter ripping the police department and chief.

Chief Womack has said she is not fearful of losing her job.
