TAMPA (FOX 13) -

Firefighters never know whom they'll be called upon to rescue.

Tuesday afternoon, Tampa Fire Rescue battled a house fire on East 23rd Avenue this afternoon and had to save several animals.

The two-story home was full of smoke when firefighters went inside.  They found three cats and a 7-foot boa constrictor trapped in a bedroom.

The cats -- Luna, Bonnie, and Leo -- were all given oxygen and returned to their owner.  They should make a full recovery.

The boa, named Melsuine, was also handed back to its owner -- presumably with a little extra care.

No injuries were reported.
