Arrests in SUV driver attack by bikers

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Police have arrested two of the bikers involved in the initial incident that lead to the vicious attack of a man driving his family in Manhattan, the NYPD said. But some of the bikers and their supporters say the driver is not the victim because one of the bikers he ran over is in a coma and could be paralyzed.

Video posted to YouTube from the helmet camera worn by a motorcyclist shows a pack of bikers attacking the driver of an SUV following a fender bender on the West Side Highway on Sunday afternoon.

EXCLUSIVE: BIKERS TELL FOX 5 THEY'RE THE VICTIMS

Christopher Cruz, 28, was charged with reckless endangerment, reckless driving, endangering the welfare of a child and menacing. He was not injured in the accident.

The driver of the black Range Rover -- Alexian Lien, 33 -- was with his wife and young child inside when he struck a motorcycle that was in front of his car, police said. In the video, Lien is seen stopping the SUV and then speeding away and striking three motorcycles when the group began to damage his SUV.

One biker was apparently hospitalized with severe injuries. The AP reported that he suffered two broken legs and other serious spinal  injuries and may be paralyzed. A Facebook page called "Justice For Jay Meezee" claims that he is in coma, although the authenticity of the page and the photos showing a badly bruised man breathing through a mask and tube have not been authenticated. The Facebook page's About section reads: "The media is trying to paint the man driving the Range Rover as the victim. Yet, Jay Meezee is in a coma and paralyzed unable to walk again along with a list of severe injuries sustained."

Another motorcyclist suffered a broken leg, according to reports.

A pack of 20 to 30 bikers chased Lien for more than 50 blocks.

Once the driver got off the highway at West 178th St. in Washington Heights the bikers attacked.

One person is seen taking off his helmet and striking the vehicle while another biker tries to punch through a window in the backseat where the child was seated.

The biker breaks through the window and Lien is dragged out of the car and assaulted, said NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly. Lien suffered cuts to the face.

One of the bikers had a flag sticker of Guyana on the back of his motorcycle, said police.

Some of the bikers are believed to be part of the Hollywood Stuntz gang. They were part of an unauthorized gathering of hundreds of riders in Times Square earlier in the day, said police.

Anyone with information about the bikers is encouraged to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers at any of the following:
