A month of investigation paid off for the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
"Anything we can find: drugs, guns, paraphernalia, and take off the streets from getting into the hands of kids," said Lt.Frank Losat.
Lieutenant Losat said two homes off Fish Lake Road in Clair Mel are known drug houses. Their customers included two street gangs.
"They bring down the property values, the quality of living and the life in the area. And we aren't going to tolerate that in Hillsborough County," he said.
Deputies took away three handguns.
"This one holds 14 bullets as opposed to the typical five or six that a normal 45 would hold," said Corporal Buddy Rudolph..
Deputies found marijuana, pain pills and a stolen scooter. They arrested Kenyett Patton, a felon with 13 convictions for weapons, child neglect and drug charges.
They also arrested Melissa Springer for drugs and child neglect. They hope this raid makes the area safer.
The homes are less than half a mile away from Clair Mel Elementary School, and deputies say that was a big concern to them.
"The school is within a stone's throw of where all this drug activity is going on," Lt.Losat said.
Parents are surprised by the news.
"It terrifies me. That is awful. That is scary," said Parent Nichole Moor.
They hope the crime ends.
"Tons of kids come out of the gate daily, I mean they just walk and they are like hidden dangers," Moor said.
Deputies have a warning for those up to no good: they are not leaving the area just yet.
"Anybody that is still conducting drug transactions in the area or the buyers we will be here throughout the weekend," said Lt. Losat.
Deputies have issued a third arrest warrant for a suspect.
