Cory Booker Tweets with stripper

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - Newark Mayor and United States Senate candidate Cory Booker is raising some eyebrows over an exchange he had via Twitter with a stripper.

BuzzFeed reports that the social media lover and exotic dancer Lynsie Lee of Portland, Oregon were interviewed for a documentary about using Twitter.

Lee said she sent the Democrat, who is single, some "not safe for work" Tweets.

She claims she sent him direct messages including one that read: "the West Coast loves you and by the West Coast I mean me."

Booker Tweeted back: "the East Coast loves you and by the East Coast I mean me."

In a photo, Lee is holding up a signed autograph from Booker that reads "Thank you!"

Booker, who is an avid user of Twitter, follows more than 75,000 accounts and has more than 1 million followers.

His campaign is downplaying the exchange saying he's simply "accessible" to regular people, reported the Associated Press.

Booker leads former Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan in the race for the open Senate seat in New Jersey but the race is tightening dramatically, according to a new poll.

A survey of likely voters has Booker leading his Republican opponent 53 - 41 percent according to Quinnipiac University.

Booker's had a 25 point lead among registered voters in a poll last month.
