For the second day in a row, dreary conditions caused a traffic mess on a major interstate in the Bay area.
On Wednesday, it was a fiery crash over the Little Manatee Bridge northbound on I-75.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers say a tractor trailer lost control in the wet conditions and jackknifed across the road just before 6 a.m.
Troopers shut down all traffic heading toward Tampa, causing miles of delays for about two hours. The lanes have been reopened.
After the cab of the trailer slammed into the concrete barrier of the bridge, the truck caught fire, causing extensive damage to the bridge and trailer.
In all, the bridge sustained about $10,000 in damage. It also spilled about 40 gallons of fuel onto the road.
The driver, who has not been identified, has been hospitalized with minor injuries.
There were several other serious crashes reported throughout the area, FOX 13's Jen Epstein reports. Area police and sheriff's offices have been tweeting reminding drivers to take caution on the wet roads today.
Rain is expected to last throughout the morning and afternoon.
