New iPad Donated To Deaf Theft Victim

Posted: Updated:

An Oregon man has a new iPad after his first device was stolen. The difference between he and many other victims of theft, he needs the device to communicate with others.

Gary Meirerotto received a brand new state-of-the-art iPad at the Apple store in Cedar Hills.

It came loaded with all the software Gary uses to communicate with his sister Kim and other relatives who live far away.

There's also a carrying case with a handle, which he'll use to keep a good grip on it.

"This is like a miracle. I'm telling you, like a miracle, "Meirerotto said.

When they heard about the theft last Friday, Portland's Singing Christmas Tree wanted to help. Gary never misses a performance. Portland's Singing Christmas Tree is a musical extravaganza which kicks off the holiday season with live performance of more 300 youth and choir voices, a live orchestra and local actors

"For the Portland Singing Christmas Tree he's a gentleman who comes to our shows every year, and he's our biggest supporter in terms of enthusiasm and love. And that's really what it's about, it's about Gary," Dolan said. "He's an amazing man, so it's easy to want to do that to him."

But there was one more surprise. Gary's sister Kim called on Skype and he couldn't wait to show her his iPad.

"Kim! What are you doing here! Look at this, Kim! Can you believe it? Can you believe it? I can't believe it," Meirerotto said

Police are still looking for the two men who stole Gary's iPad. But, thanks to the community,, he wont have to wait to get it back.

"I just want to thank you all," Meirerotto said.
