ROCHESTER, Mich. (WJBK) -

Kenya's president says 39 people are dead and more than 150 injured by armed terrorists who attacked an upscale mall in Nairobi. Four American citizens were reported injured but not killed in the attack, the State Department said Saturday. Fox 2 talked to a nurse anesthetist who heads a relief group in Kenya.

Steve James runs the group kenyarelief.org. It's based in Alabama but he's in Detroit this weekend to meet with sponsors and supporters. He says their help will be crucial in the months to come.

"My heart just breaks not just for the families and those who were injured but for all of Kenya," James told Fox 2. "It's not 9-11 but it almost could be as serious for that country."

His nonprofit group conducts short term mission trips for doctors and nurses. A Kenya relief team including Metro Detroiters has a trip scheduled for October. They say they'll take more precautions but they will still travel to Kenya.
