She's only 13, but Peyton Carter has seen her share of heartache over the last few years. She lost her grandma, her older sister, and someone very close.
"In the past year, I have had my cousin, but she is not really my cousin. She passed away from bone cancer also," Peyton explained.
So when one of her former classmates committed suicide after being cyberbullied, it all really began taking a toll.
"She has been not sleeping, crying, or talking about it," said Streicia Carter, Peyton's mom.
Rather than just talk about the death of Rebecca Sedwick, Peyton decided to do something about it as well. This weekend, she is raising money to help Rebecca's family by holding a yard sale.
Her dolls, her pageant dresses, and anything else she could haul out of her closets have been hauled outside and are up for sale.
There is not a price on anything -- it's whatever you want to pay.
"It's not about price," Peyton explained. "I just want people to donate and be kind hearted and help out with this."
Peyton had advertised on Craigslist, her Facebook page, and at the makeshift memorial where Rebecca jumped to her death.
"I have got people donating money already and it's really making me happy because this is gonna work out," she continued.
Unfortunately, things didn't work out for Rebecca. Now Peyton hopes they will for the people she left behind.
If you want to donate items to the yard sale or stop by and take a look around, you should head to 2002 Fish Hatchery Road in Lakeland after 8:30 on Saturday.
