BRADENTON (FOX 13) -

Police have arrested a man they say stole an Olympian's gold medal, but the medal is still missing.

Allen Jeffery Nichols, 22, was arrested around 4 p.m. Thursday.

Investigators with the Bradenton Police Department say he stole the gold medal out of Demetrius Pinder's truck on September 11. Pinder helped win the gold for the Bahamas in 2012 as part of the 4 x 400 relay team.

The medal is valued at around $45,000.

Nichols was taken into custody without incident and is charged with grand theft, a 2nd degree felony.
