Bolts owner Jeff Vinik buys Bay area mansion, tears it down
SARASOTA (FOX 13) -
What goes up must come down.
Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik is tearing down a 6,000 square foot mansion he just bought on the Sarasota Bay island of St. Armand's Key.
Neighbors and realtors told the Tampa Bay Times they were shocked that Vinik was tearing down the house, located at 112 North Washington Drive.
A FOX 13 photographer was at the scene as demolition crews continued tearing the house apart Tuesday.
Tuesday afternoon, a Lightning spokeperson issed this statement:
"Although Mr. Vinik typically does not comment on personal or family matters, his recent acquisition in Sarasota has no bearing on his commitment to the Tampa Bay community or his business interests here."
