LAKELAND (FOX 13) -

The woman at the center of the Lakeland Police Department sex scandal has been fired, FOX 13's Ken Suarez reports.

Lakeland Police Chief Lisa Womack made the announcement in a press conference Wednesday afternoon.

She was fired for not cooperating with the investigation, Suarez reported.

But Eberle's attorney says she did cooperate, and maintains that she was the victim of a hostile work environment.

Five more police officers and two other LPD employees are also being disciplined in the wake of the scandal, Suarez tweeted.

At least eight police officers and a firefighter are accused of having sex on the job with Eberle. She was a crime analyst at the department.

Some of the officers have been fired or have resigned. Investigators say Eberle may have been involved with six other city employees outside the police department.
