Authorities search for Citrus County man; daughters missing

BROOKSVILLE (FOX 13) -

Detectives say they're hoping two young girls are OK as authorities search for their father.

They disappeared with him in Citrus County, and he doesn't have custody of the girls, the sheriff's office says.

The sheriff's office believes the girls may be in danger.

Edward Peters allegedly took off with them Sunday. Their names are McKala and Madison, and they are 11 and 7, respectively.

Deputies say Peters removed a GPS ankle monitor when he took off. He has violated several court orders, and there is a warrant out for his arrest.

The monitor was found off the northbound lanes of I-75 in Hernando County. Authorities are concerned for the safety and well-being of the girls.

Detectives say Peters may be in the Orlando area.

He was last seen driving a 2003 Silver Jeep Liberty with Florida tag number "366LEJ."

If you know where they are, contact the Citrus County Sheriff's Office.
