The U.S. Coast Guard says it's hauling in about 2,800 pounds of marijuana Monday in St. Petersburg.
The bust happened last month, officials said.
A crew with the U.S. Coast Guard detected a Jamaican fishing vessel on August 31. The crew was onboard a United Kingdom Royal Fleet Auxiliary Vessel and was patrolling the Caribbean Sea.
It pulled alongside that fishing vessel, and that's when 55 packages were recovered.
They later tested positive for marijuana. The suspects onboard were taken into custody and the drugs ultimately were transferred to the Coast Guard Cutter Okracoke and brought to St. Petersburg.
The 2,800 pounds is estimated at $2.5 million.
