Surveillance: Man's Second Attempt Robbing Same Rite Aid

Posted: Updated:
FOLCROFT, Pa. -

Surveillance cameras rolled on August 26, just before midnight, as a bold burglar armed with a saw cut his way into a Folcroft Rite Aid, leaving behind a giant hole in the cosmetics aisle.

He reaches back for his tools and then heads right for an office safe. But he has no luck getting the office safe open, police say, so he decides it's time to tidy up.

"It kind of seemed like he cleaned up after himself and was mopping the floor in back," says Corporal William Bair of the Folcroft Police Department.

That's right. Surveillance shows him, on his hands and knees, wiping up some of the mess on the ground. Then he heads for an ATM up front, but has no luck there either. All this work and the burglar still leaves with nothing.

"Very ingenious; if they put their efforts into earning an honest living, they'd made a lot of money," says Paul Richard, who works near the Rite Aid.

But police say that this was actually the second time the same crook hit this Rite Aid. Back in March, they say, this same guy cut a hole in almost the same spot! And, again, he wasn't able to get a hold of any cash.

"He seemed like he was a little dejected that there was no money at that time," Bair interpolated from the suspect's body language.

Rite Aid now offers a 2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest.

"I just hope they catch person and everyone is safe around here," says Renee Gordiany, who works nearby.

"Time for me to keep an eye on my cameras, make sure everything's working properly," says Richard.

Though it's hard to see the subject's face from the surveillance video, police have determined from a shoe print left behind that he wears a size 12 shoe. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact police.
