If you smoke, you can't get a job working for Flagler County.
The County Commission voted August 19 to have potential new hires tested for nicotine.
If they don't pass, they don't get the job.
They're even barred from working with the county for a year.
A Flagler County spokesperson says tobacco use is the same thing as drug use , and they have a drug-free policy.
They say the county is self-insured, and the policy will save money in the long run.
Current employees are not affected by the policy, but the county will offer smoking cessation courses to those who are interested.
