Earlier start to flu season?

Posted: Updated:

The flu season begins next month, but people here in the Bay area are already testing positive.

The CVS Minute Clinic in Seffner is reporting several people with the flu this year.  They're recommending you receive the vaccine as early as possible.

Here are some myth busters about the flu.

1) Just because you get vaccinated one year, doesn't mean you shouldn't get it again. Health experts advise you to get it every year.

2) The flu shot will not give you the flu.

3) A healthy lifestyle will not prevent you from getting sick.

4) It's never too early to get vaccinated.

Lastly, there are no serious side effects caused by the flu vaccine.

The flu shot cost about $35.  In most cases, your health insurance will pick up the tab.
