Even as workers finish the painstaking task of painting the ice, hundreds of job-seekers came to the Tampa Bay Times Forum looking for work Thursday, hoping to score big.
The Tampa Bay Lightning and the Tampa Bay Times Forum held a part-time job fair to fill positions for the upcoming Lightning hockey season as well as other Times Forum events.
The Lightning and Times Forum is hiring for a number of positions in the newly redesigned all-inclusive Chase Club as well as VIP suites, including:
"We will fill all positions, from housekeeping, cleaning to chefs, bartenders, suite attendants, club attendants," said Keith Harris, who's head of human resources at the Forum. "On the application we look for it to be complete, complete job history, obviously, we look for how well the information is portrayed, but we also for, from a face to face perspective, people who are energetic, people who smile, this is the hospitality industry, so we look for people have service experience and are just excited about service."
"I came to get a job. I'm not looking for a job; I came to get one," said job-seeker Steven Raines. "I'm here to help and root 'em on, too, during the season, so we can win another Stanley Cup."
All positions are part-time and offer competitive hourly wages with incentives. All candidates are asked to dress professionally and to bring five copies of their resume, along with written references. And if you missed this fair, there will be another one in a couple of weeks.
