Tampa school shut down after possible sinkhole

TAMPA (FOX 13) -

A possible sinkhole has closed school at Cambridge Christian School for Thursday and Friday, and it's also cancelled all campus activities until Tuesday.

An engineering company is coming out to evaluate the entire school grounds after officials say two separate holes formed this week.

In a letter, Tim Euler, the head of school, said he believes it was the best precaution to take considering the amount of concern in this area for sinkholes.

"Varsity football practice at Skyway on 8/29 from 2pm-5:30pm," the school tweeted Wednesday night. "All other practices & games are canceled. If possible, games will be rescheduled."

Euler said the first hole was found in the church field by a basketball court Monday morning. Two days, later, after officials filled the hole, another one was found.

Euler said he'll be informing parents on what the school plans to do next week.
