If you drive on the Howard Frankland Bridge, you've probably see the new palm trees lining the roadway. Dozens are being planted near the welcome to St. Petersburg sign, which went up just before the Republican National Convention came to town.
The monument was paid for with private donations, primarily from businessman Bill Edwards, but the new landscaping will come out of the highway landscaping budget from the Florida Department of Transportation.
The total cost is $269,995.62. Here's the breakdown of materials.
The City of St. Petersburg is responsible for installation. Do you think this is worth it or wasted?
