OCALA (FOX 13) -

Marion County deputies are looking for a 36-year-old man who sucker punched a deputy during a traffic stop Wednesday morning.

Tony Lee McKenzie of Ocala was pulled over for not wearing a seat belt, but when a deputy confronted him in the traffic stop, the sheriff's office says McKenzie got out of his car, walked straight toward the deputy, and started punching him.

The deputy was bleeding profusely and was disoriented, according to detectives, but McKenzie allegedly didn't stop there.

He even tried to grab the deputy's gun. The sheriff's office says the deputy was able to wrestle away from McKenzie, who ran off into a nearby wooded area.

The sheriff's office is now searching for McKenzie. The deputy had several stitches above his left eyebrow.

If you know where McKenzie is, call Crime Stoppers at 368-STOP.
