Giants, Jets fans anticipate Super Bowl

Posted: Updated:
NEW JERSEY (MYFOXNY.COM) -

Saturday night’s annual preseason battle between the Giants and Jets at MetLife Stadium always has a lot on the line for Big Blue and Gang Green fans, but this season fans of both teams are extra excited.

For the first time Super Bowl XLVIII (48) will be played at MetLife Stadium.

A lot of excited fans were at MetLife Stadium Saturday night and although football season hasn't even officially begun, many fans already have their eye on the Super Bowl

When it comes to tailgating the weather didn’t get much better than this and neither does the food -- so much so many couldn't resist when offered some.

Making this day even better -- two of New York’s best playing against each other at their shared home in Meadowlands.

The New York Giants hosted the New York Jets Saturday at MetLife Stadium in the third preseason game for each team. Couple Joe and Lindsay root for different teams so Fox 5 had to ask – if they get married what are you going to do?

“The kids will definitely be raised Giants fans to the best of my ability,” said Joe.

“They’ll be half and half,” said Lindsay.

Not up for debate is the NFL's new security policy that basically says your bag either has to be clear or very small.

“I left my bag home. I just threw everything in my pockets,” said one Giants fan.

“What I did is I put it in another bag so it doesn't all spill out. I mean, if it protects us I guess its ok,” added another Giants fan.

Despite being months away, fans are already talking about the Super Bowl which will be played at MetLife Stadium.

“I hope the Jets are going to be in it, seriously,” said one diehard Jets fan.

“Super Bowl 2014, Gino Smith,” added another.

That's right Super Bowl predictions are already being made from both sides.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is holding its monthly board meeting, two days after it heard from a panel on what it needs to do to improve its accountability and efficiency and restore public trust.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey could rescind a $1-a-year lease for a park-and-ride lot near the Lincoln Tunnel. The agency's chief of real estate and development told a committee Wednesday that it should change a deal made in 2012. Published reports have alleged that former Port Authority chairman David Samson voted to approve the lease even though his law firm did business with New Jersey Transit, which operates the park-and-ride lot.

As he tried to assist in the delivery of a newborn, Manchester Officer Joseph Fastige noticed the umbilical cord was wrapped around the child’s neck. He was able to get his fingers around the cord and safely unwrapped it. That quick-thinking - and perhaps life-saving - move was one of several Manchester officers made when they delivered a newborn child last week.
