Victoria Anzalone is feeding lots of hungry kids in Hillsborough County, one plate at a time. When she launched her personal service project, "Victoria's Good Table" back in January, she had no idea how many kids would end up joining the feast. Since then, she's fed 800 kids.
Feeding America Tampa Bay, the Tampa Yankees, Chobani and many other local organizations have jumped onboard, helping her with her personal mission to feed the hungry children.
It's estimated as many as 30 percent of the kids in Hillsborough County come home from school and have no meal or dinner to eat.
WhereLoveGrows.org is her website, and Anzalone said her mission is simple: in us, may all families and kindred of the earth be blessed and by us they will bless themselves.
Anzalone cooks all of the meals out of her own kitchen in her Harbour Island home, and gets help from volunteers to make the deliveries to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay, where the meals are served family-style.
As many as 130 hungry kids sit down to dinner, and Anzalone said they are so appreciative. They also learn that eating a meal is more than just about the food. It's about learning how others around you spent their day, to share thoughts and ideas, and to engage in conversation that lasts more than an hour.
Anzalone is receiving an award from the Boys & Girls clubs this Friday. She told us she is humbled and thrilled that she has been able to help so many good kids.
