LAKELAND (FOX 13) -

Deputies say a 26-year-old woman who ran through a stop sign was killed Wednesday morning.

The accident happened around 5:30 a.m. on Old Polk City Road in Lakeland.

Megan Wright was in her 1991 Mazda Miata when she ran a stop sign approaching SR 33. The sheriff's office is still completing its investigation, and it's unclear why she ran the stop sign.

Wright's Miata was stuck by a 2012 Nissan Frontier, and deputies say she was thrown from the vehicle.

The driver of the other car was treated at a hospital for injuries and was released. He was wearing a seatbelt.

The sheriff's office hasn't concluded yet if Wright was wearing her seatbelt.
