He's the local man known for taking scrap metal and turning it into rusty gold. Dominique Martinez unveiled his new sign, featuring an all-new logo, at the intersection of MLK and North Highland on Tuesday.
If you can't see the sign, you won't miss the chickens outside the front door, crafted from old chrome exhaust pipes. Or the giant green dragon with black wings.
Rustic Steel Creations just moved to its new, larger location from Channelside, where Martinez had been for the better part of 10 years. His custom, iconic artworks have been recognized all over Florida and around the country.
There are seven on his staff and they've more than doubled the space they have to fabricate in. The warehouse is a hot box for sure, with large fans to cool off his staffers as they weld, bend, and shape metal into anything you want.
We checked online and throughout Tampa Bay and the State of Florida and found dozens of openings for welders. One of the hottest old-school professions is back and seeing a big resurgence. Welding schools say their graduates have no trouble finding good-paying jobs right now.
Rustic Steel Creations is planning on a grand opening in its new home for October.
