AVON PARK (FOX 13) -

Deputies have issued the first of likely many charges in connection with this weekend's Avon Park riot at a juvenile detention center.

A 17-year-old faces four felonies, including charges for rioting, burglary, grand theft and introduction of contraband into a detention facility.

The rioting started at DJJ Avon Park Youth Academy on Saturday, and ended with the facility ransacked by dozens and dozens of boys.

Ironically, deputies say it all started over a pick-up basketball game, and the prize was three cups of noodles. When one team didn't pay up, a fight broke out, according to the sheriff's office.

Sheriff Grady Judd said the teenager, who is not being identified because he is a minor, is the first of many arrests to come.

On Tuesday, state officials are expected to visit the site of the riot, and changes to protocol could be coming soon.

The teenager has been booked into a Pinellas County facility.
