The photographs and tributes to motherhood on Tracy Pulido's Facebook page give some insight into her life.
The photographs taken at the Pinellas County jail are a contrasting image. One is for a charge of disorderly intoxication days before last Christmas; a second mug shot is associated with a DUI in 2011.
"Alcohol may have been a factor in her life at one time or another," St. Petersburg Police Department spokesman Michael Puetz said Monday,
"Obviously, whether or not that played any significance in this case, we just don't know," he said.
Pulido's body was found inside her St. Petersburg apartment Sunday afternoon. Her 6-year old son spent the weekend with a friend. When the friend's mother could not reach Pulido to arrange the boy's return, she called a neighbor of Pulido's, who checked and discovered her body.
"Detectives have informed me that this does appear to be a rather violent death," Puetz said, but declined to provide further details of an autopsy conducted Monday. He said the death occurred "within 24 hours" of the discovery, which means it could have happened Saturday or Sunday.
Neighbors reported no unusual activity.
"In a case like this, the first thing [detectives] look at is anybody that she may have been socializing with, obviously this would be boyfriends, anybody who may have been part of her world," Puetz said.
The victim's ex-husband, who is also the father of the six year old, lives in New Jersey. Puetz said the child is now staying with a relative who lives in the Tampa Bay area.
