An unwelcome wake-up call for a lot of parents in Pinellas county.
At six o'clock Sunday morning, hundreds of parents received an automated phone message welcoming them back to the start of the new school year.
The Pinellas School district's public information officer Melanie Parra says the robo-call went out by mistake.
"It certainly was not the district's intent for the call to be delivered at the time most families received it. The district apologizes for this unexpected disturbance and is investigating the reason for the error. The district sincerely looks forward to welcoming back all students for an exciting and productive 2013-2014 school year" said Parra.
Parra said the call was supposed to go out Sunday evening.
She said the school district plans to investigate the error.
