Dozens of guns are on the street after break-ins at two Lakeland area gun shops. The burglaries happened just miles apart, just one hour apart.
Gator Pawn on Combee Road was hit about 10 :30 pm Thursday. An hour later, Derringer Guns was hit on Gary Road, just outside city limits.
In each case, a man wearing a gray hoodie tried to pry open a door to get in, smashed a showcase and grabbed about a dozen guns.
"We're thinking it's the same guy," Sgt. Gary Gross told FOX 13. "We're not real sure. The crime analysts and the crime prevention people are taking a look at the (surveillance video and photographs) and trying to compare them."
The intruder may have left a trail of evidence. At Derringer's, he dropped two guns on the way out, so police have his fingerprints along with other evidence.
"Hopefully, they will catch 'em. I'd like them to drop him off here when they do," said Chad Martin, who works at Gators.
