The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that happened at Walt Disney World Resort involving a car and a bus.According to Reedy Creek Fire Rescue, which serves the resort area, the accident occurred near Epcot Center Drive and Overpass Road just after 3:30 p.m. Friday.FHP says a woman in her 60s who had been in the car was taken to Celebration Health in Kissimmee. She was later pronounced dead. Two others were also transported to the hospital.
Witnesses said the car appeared to be slowing down or stopping, possibly from mechanical problems, before being rear-ended by the bus.
Authorities said the bus involved is not part of the large Disney-owned fleet of vehicles which serve the resort area but is owned and operated by Mears Transportation Group.
The complimentary shuttle service, called Disney's Magical Express bus, transports guests between the airport and the resort.
"Our deepest sympathies go out to the family of the individual who tragically lost their life in this accident," said Roger Chapin, a Mears spokesman. "We are cooperating fully with FHP."
FHP wasn't immediately naming the driver of the bus or the victim.
