A 13-year-old teen turned himself in after he shot a 15-year-old teen during a confrontation earlier this week, police said.

Le'Genius Wisdom Williams is in custody in Pinellas juvenile detention.

The shooting happened at the 1700 block of 16th Street South Wednesday night around 9 p.m.

Police say there was a verbal confrontation between the victim and a group of three to four teens Williams was with.

Williams pulled a small handgun from his pocket and fired several rounds at the victim, the St. Petersburg Police Department said.

The victim was hit in the upper body and taken to Bayfront Medical Center. He was transferred to All Children's Hospital in serious but stable condition.

Williams turned himself in to SPPD around 1:30 this afternoon. He is charged with attempted first-degree murder.
