It's time to say goodbye to an amazing man who has spent almost his entire life coaching young people. He has inspired many children in Hillsborough County, but now he's retiring.
There's not much down time for Terry O'Grady. He is constantly on the go, coaching youth sports.
"Some people golf and have different hobbies, and my hobby was youth sports. It became a passion," Terry said.
O'Grady has been a youth coach for 42 years. He coached his first team when he was just 15 years old. He's coached baseball, basketball, football and soccer. You name it -- he's coached it.
"I hope I left some good impressions and some life lessons, and touched the lives of some of the young athletes that I had the good fortune of coaching over the years," Terry said.
He believes he's coached more than 3,000 kids and helped certify more than 15,000 coaches. He says it's been a very rewarding journey.
"From the smiles and reward the accomplishments, the tears, the growth improvements all those type of things, I got more out of that," Terry said. "It did more for me then I probably ever did for any of the kids."
This grandfather of six is moving, so it's time to say goodbye to a wonderful legacy he's built for Hillsborough County's young athletes.
Terry is retiring and moving to the east coast of Florida.
