Some amazing dancers have converged on the Patel Conservatory this summer to learn from the best. What they are learning is What's Right with Tampa Bay.
Many great things are happening at the Patel Conservatory in Tampa this summer. Young dancers have come from all over the country, to learn from the best.
Madeleine Gardella is one of those students. She's 14, from Philadelphia, and she's spent her summer here.
"I know that Peter Stark has a great reputation with sending his students off to a very prestigious school and companies so that was definitely interesting to me," Madeline said.
Stark is one of the star teachers at Patel right, who is trying to help the students reach their full potential.
"We are a stepping stone for great talent and we are trying to prepare tomorrow's ballet stars," Peter said.
The students took part in Next Generation Ballet, a five-week workshop where they work 30 to 40 hours a week on either ballet or jazz. Peter says they have something to offer that most workshops can't.
"Because we are with the Straz Center we can offer them a tremendous performing opportunity. So on the last day of the program, we have a performance that features all these students," Peter said.
Jalen Williams is 17 years old and wants to one day dance for a professional dance company.
"It's been pretty intense. It's been like where there were plenty of days coming to Mr. Peter, I'm like my legs are so sore I can't move right now. He's like, well you got to keep stretching," Jalen says.
Keep working to be the best -- it's a lesson they will leave here, never forgetting.
