Worth it or wasted: Netflix

Posted: Updated:
TAMPA (FOX 13) -

There's nothing like a movie to escape the summer heat and it's much cheaper to rent one than to go to the theater.

Netflix is gaining popularity with people all over the country, and it seems with state government as well.

Two agencies spent a combined $973.52 on Netflix in budget year 2012-13. The Agency for Persons with Disabilities spent $685.76 and The Department of Children and Families Mental Health Services Program spent $287.76.

The agencies tell FOX 13 they were for the benefit of patients in residential facilities, not employees.

The financial information can be found on Transparency Florida, the state's budget tracking website:

http://www.transparencyflorida.gov/SearchVendors_VID.aspx?FY=13&OVID=935182&ST=PURCHASING+CARD+-+NATIONSBANK+-+NETFLIX%2c+INC&M

We took a text poll asking if you think the cost is worth it or wasted?

Here are the results:

Worth it: 56%

Wasted: 44%
