TAMPA (FOX 13) -

Four men were arrested Tuesday following an investigation into a series of stolen rims in Tampa.

The Tampa Police Department has been investigating the thefts since 2012.

Plainclothes officers saw the suspects traveling westbound on I-4 toward Tampa in a stolen van and followed them to the 4100 block of west Nassau Street, where they attempted to steal rims from several cars, according to TPD.

The two men fled on foot when officers approached, and they were bitten by K-9s.

Police also say they found a handgun on the ground where the suspects tried to steal the rims.

Their names have not been released yet. They are being treated at a local hospital.
