STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. -

A teen critically injured in a fall at Stone Mountain two weeks ago talked to FOX 5 about the scary ordeal.

Jason Landress, 18, fell down a steep culvert while hiking at Stone Mountain. His friend, Sean Garber, also fell after trying to grab Jason.

"It was really wet or something right there and then I slipped. And I just kept going and going and going and I couldn't stop," said Landress. "I was scared. I was trying to stop, but couldn't."

Firefighters used ropes to pull the boys to safety.

Landress' suffered a broken jaw, several shattered teeth, and numerous cuts that required stitches. His jaw has been wired shut.

Garber suffered a broken ankle in the fall.

Landress and the youth pastor who was leading the hike both say there were no warning signs that day.

"Or any signs telling us not to go over there or any fences -- there was nothing. There was already a trail, we just walked through it," Landress said.

Landress expects to get the wires from his jaw removed in the next five weeks. A dentist has offered to fix his four shattered teeth at no cost after seeing the story on FOX 5.
