PHILADELPHIA -

A former Philadelphia Eagle and current ESPN analyst is reportedly in trouble over threats and racial slurs hurled at a co-worker during a party in Florida.

According to a report on TheBigLead.com, Hugh Douglas was apparently drinking Friday when the altercation occurred.

The report says Douglas was trying to get on stage where a DJ was playing and threatened to beat up Michael Smith, a colleague from ESPN's "Numbers Don't Lie."

It was after threats were made that Smith tried to walk away but Douglas, according to the report, grabbed him and called him two racial slurs, an "Uncle Tom" and a "House N-----," prompting Smith to turn around and witnesses to break up the incident.

According to the "Big Lead Sports," which is USA Today's online sports blog, one source's version of events has been verified by three different sources.

The Orlando event, hosted by the National Association of Black Journalists, was to raise money for college scholarships.

Douglas, 41, was a first-round draft pick and defensive rookie of the year for the New York Jets, going on to play for the Jacksonville Jaguars and twice with the Eagles twice during his 10 seasons in the NFL. He previously worked at FOX 29 and has also done sports talk on 94.1-FM WIP before becoming an ESPN analyst.

A source tells Big Lead Sports that ESPN has pulled Douglas off of "Numbers Don't Lie," and the gregarious former pro athlete has not posted to his Twitter account since Friday.

This follows on the heels of Eagles wide receiver Riley Cooper being caught in another racial incident, when video posted to YouTube showed him using the "N" word in an argument with a security guard at a Kenny Chesney concert.

Douglas was among those in the sports world to react online. In a message Wednesday, Douglas tweeted, "S/O to Riley Cooper.. For keepin it 100.. At least now we know!"
