NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Primary Day in New York City is Sept. 10. The mayoral candidates, particularly the Democratic field, are continuing to pound the pavement during the summer which is typically a slow time in politics.

Of all the Democratic candidates which include embattled former Congressman Anthony Weiner, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, NYC Comptroller John Liu and NYC Public Advocate Bill de Blasio, Weiner has been stealing most of the headlines.

A woman recently revealed that Weiner continued to send her sexually explicit messages and photos long after he 'came clean' to New Yorkers about his shenanigans. Weiner, who is married, resigned from Congress following the initial revelation in 2011.

On Monday, Weiner was campaigning again saying voters would ultimately care about his stand on issues and not personal problems.

Also on Monday, candidate John Liu hit a major snag in his bid to become New York City's first Asian American mayor.

The Campaign Finance Board declined to match $3.5M in campaign funds citing two former aides' recent convictions in a donation scheme.

Liu is considering an appeal which could take a month, cutting close to Primary Day.

A run-off, if needed, is scheduled for Oct. 1.
