POLK (FOX 13) -

Polk County deputies are on the hunt for a man they consider "armed and dangerous," and their biggest fear is what he might do next.

So the sheriff's office is asking the public's help in finding 20-year-old Eleno Suarez, who is accused of opening fire on deputies during a chase this weekend.

Back in July, they say he was involved in an armed home invasion, robbery and carjacking in Frostproof.  He's been on the loose since, but he was spotted by deputies over the weekend.

They say he was at a convenience store at the intersection of US Highway 27 and US Highway 98 in Frostproof.

He took off in a Ford Focus with five other people, and deputies tried to pull them over. Here's what has deputies really concerned: While driving the car, investigators say Suarez began firing gunshots at them.

He ended up losing control of the car in Hardee County. That's when Suarez jumped out and ran off on foot. He is still on the run.

No deputies were injured in any of this, but Suarez is now faces charges of attempted first degree murder of a law enforcement officer.

There is also a $5,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
