Polk County deputies accuse a man in Tarpon Springs of creating false invoices and have charged him with theft and money laundering.
Deputies say Todd Hannum, 43, created invoices from the Goodyear Tire location at 6975 Cypress Gardens Blvd. to inflate sales statistics.
The sheriff's office says a corporate auditor did not realize they were fake and sent them to the sheriff's office for collection in March.
The sheriff's office used to be a customer of the company but has not been for some time.
Deputies don't know yet if any actual property was taken from the store, but
they did learn that he has used personal information of customers in the past to defraud the company.
They also say Hannum, who was a manager, credited more than $2,000 to his mother's credit card with chargebacks.
Hannum confessed to the crime. He also confessed to forging the signatures of deputies on the false invoices.
He's charged with scheming to defraud, grand theft and two counts of money laundering.
He is due for his first appearance in court Friday.
