Hernando estate sale features renowned doll collection

Posted: Updated:

It's going to take most of the month of August to sort through and price the thousands of objects going up for sale from a well-known doll collector in Hernando County.

Gloria Everett was beloved and known for her incredible doll collection, but there is so much more to what she left behind. She recently passed away, and even thought her surviving daughters and grandchildren have taken their mementos, the pieces for sale are stacked floor to ceiling and in every corner of every room in her home.

The family will be selling her massive collection soon with dolls ranging from the 1800s until now. They have contracted with Full House Liquidation to conduct a large-scale estate sale and sell off all the remaining contents of her estate.

Throughout her life, Gloria worked tirelessly for children and worked extensively with hospice, making thousands of homemade bears and dolls for adults and children who were battling illnesses.

It's estimated she handmade more than 4,000 bears. She painted their faces on fabric, sewed the clothing they wore and painted a heart with the word "love" inside, so the keeper of these bears would know they were cared for.

The estate is so large, it will take six days to complete. It begins August 16th for a Friday through Sunday stint, then runs the following weekend, until everything is gone.

Triplett said you can go to their website, where he will post as many pictures with descriptions as possible. The collection is so large and extensive, it's impossible to fathom until you see it for yourself.

Hernando County Sheriff's Deputies will be on-hand to keep the entire operation secure. The sale doesn't begin until 9 a.m. on the 16th, but Triplett said he would not be surprised if people camped out overnight, the interest in her collection is so intense. |

There will only be 25 to 30 people allowed inside at a time and bring your wallet, cash or credit cards in your pocket, because no large bags or purses will be allowed inside.
