Could former TSA worker and Tarpon Springs Police Officer Larry Kobielnik be a serial rapist? The 37 year old is now charged with kidnapping and sexual assaulting another woman.
In both cases, detectives say he picked up the women off the street in Clearwater, showed a gun, and pretended to be a police officer.
He was arrested earlier this week for an attack that happened on July 26th.
Yesterday, a second victim identified Kobielnik as the man who picked her up on May 13 at 9 a.m. in the area of Hillcrest Avenue in Clearwater.
She got into his car and he drove to a house where he then sexually battered the victim, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. The woman stated that Kobielnik said he would arrest her if she didn't comply.
FOX 13 investigative reporter Doug Smith uncovered a case earlier this week in Tarpon Springs with very similar details that happened more than a decade ago, after Kobielnik resigned from the police department. In that case, he wasn't charged. (link here)
Detectives have charged Kobielnik with kidnapping, sexual battery and falsely impersonating an officer. He is currently in the Pinellas County Jail, held on more than a million dollars bond.
