An Alabama family is pleading for the public's help in solving the cold case murder of a man who was a husband, father, and son.

It's been nearly three years since 47-year-old Gregory Smith was gunned down in his car while visiting his family in Atlanta.  Smith was killed less than a block away from the home he grew up in near the intersection of Santa Fe Trail and El Paso Drive.

Smith's wife, mother, son and siblings attended a news conference on Monday to ask people to call in any tips that might help police solve their loved one's murder.  His widow says the situation has torn the family apart.

"It has destroyed our unit," said Donna Smith, Gregory Smith's widow.  "We were married 20 years, together 20.  Two children out of the marriage. It has destroyed our lives. We are continuously trying to get to a new norm, a new way of life, a new way of living. And that piece of that unit is missing."

Anyone with information about Gregory Smith's murder is asked to call the Atlanta Police Department's CrimeStoppers tip line at (404) 577-8477.
